Jagua is a fruit indigenous to the rain forest, scientifically known as Genipa Americana. It is a common plant throughout the tropics of South America and has been used for body ornamentation and medicinal purposes by the indigenous people of the Amazon for centuries. Jagua works by staining the outermost layer of skin and creating a blueish black temporary tattoo design that lasts for 2 to 3 weeks.

Henna had trained as an apprentice tattoo artist in Minnesota, USA when she had stumbled upon the world of jagua. It was love at first sight. She decided to delve into researching jagua further, whilst simultaneously developing her henna business, and finding creative ways in which she could incorporate jagua into her products and services.

The possibilities are endless! The thrill of creating visually pleasing, non-permanent tattoo-like designs, is magical. Henna created various tattoo designs appealing to a wider audience, as opposed to being commonly used as a ceremonial ritual for weddings or adorning yourself just for the love of henna.
